Membership

Membership as defined in our By-Laws (Article II):

  1. Section 1: Qualifications for Membership—Any person who is a believing, confessing, and baptized Christian, acknowledges and accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, accepts the Bible as the inerrant Word of God, ascribes to the Statement of Faith as presented by these Bylaws, who actively attempts to fulfill the duties as described in Section 2 (below) for a period of not less than ninety (90) days, and who expresses a desire to be affiliated with the Church at Sunsites as a member, shall upon recommendation of the Council of Elders, be presented to the congregation for membership by vote at any regular meeting for worship.

  2. Section 2: Duties—Members are expected to be faithful in their commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and to be obedient to His commands. Members are also required to regularly attend the services of the Church at Sunsites and to be actively involved in the ministries performed by the Church. It shall also be the duty of the members to give of their financial resources regularly to the Church for its support and its causes, and to share in its organized work.

  1. Section 3: Rights—Any member of the Church, present during any business meeting of the Church where decisions are being made regarding Church business, has the right to participate in the decision-making process with the stipulation that he first search his own heart concerning his previous support and commitment to the Church and the ministries of the Church.

  2. Section 4: Termination of Membership—The removal from active participation in the Church may occur due to one or more of the following:

    1. Request of individual or family.

    2. Upon the member's joining another Church of like faith and order & the request of said Church for a letter of transfer from this Church.

    3. Death of the member.

    4. Evident non-support of this ministry

i. Unexplained absences for a period of ninety (90) days, after effort to locate and reactivate.

ii. Continued attendance or membership at another Church.
iii. For causes deemed proper by the Church according to the Scriptures.
