April Not-happenings

At the beginning of last month, we were hoping coronavirus would miss us. It did not. Little did we expect that our governor would issue a shelter-in-place order by the end of the month. While some of our sister churches are complaining about the government violating constitutional rights, we want to recognize God’s sovereignty and providence. We want to praise Him in this current season. We desire to honor our government according to Scripture. If you are curious about the severity of the novel coronavirus, watch the following video. It really puts things into perspective. The United States now leads the world in COVID-19 spread, and there are no signs of slowing yet. This pandemic is worse than both the SARS outbreak and Spanish Flu in their times.

Because the risk is now very real, we are asking you honor the governor’s order, stay home, and avoid contact with others- this includes tithing/donating electronically if you can since snail mail=contact.

COVID-19 has done much to reveal the world’s greed and that of idolatrous local churches. The fact is, we can’t serve both God and money or God and attendance. We can’t serve two masters. We will either participate in God’s mission as He works all things together or our own while complaining about the things God is working together. We cannot do both. continued below…

Last month was long and concerning for many of us; God’s work continues. We continued to walk through 1 Samuel on Sunday mornings and Matthew on Wednesday evenings. We started our study on the book of Revelation. We moved all of our meetings online (Facebook or Youtube) for this current season. Unfortunately, though we planned to, we are now unable to deliver CDs because of the governor’s shelter-in-place order and in the interest of our community’s safety and survival.

Upcoming Special Events

We want to invite our community to join us for our Good Friday and Easter streams. Here is all the info you need!

Good Friday

We will be observing a representation of communion even though real communion cannot be rightly practiced online. Please have wine or grape juice and some form of unleavened bread. If you cannot get any, we will do everything we can to provide it for you; simply contact us.

We will have one song, and think upon Jesus Christ’s crucifixion together.

Resurrection Sunday

We will have an online worship service and will read from Christ’s word concerning our own resurrection in Him.

If you would like to contribute, please send a 30 sec. video describing what Easter means to you or send a video of you singing a Resurrection song. Your video may or may not be included, but we would like to include you if we can.

Let’s think upon our savior this season.

Give Up Greed

One mark of Christ’s true church is her sacrificial living. At no time is it more evident who God’s children and Satan’s children are than during times of tribulation-like the COVID-19 pandemic season. I have seen all sorts of response from churches. Our idolatry is being revealed. Pastors and other church leaders are so concerned about bringing in enough money and retaining their congregations that they are forgetting to care for people. Over the last few weeks, we have been talking about sacrificial living, what it means to love, and about how life isn’t about us overcoming our giants. Now, we will each be tested. Have we heard God’s word? Has it changed us? Will we, during this time prove to be doers of God’s word and not hearers only?

After persecution erupted in Jerusalem, believers lost every comfort and preference they thought they needed and became missionaries. Paul willingly impoverished himself so that he might win more to Christ. I am confident of this, brothers and sisters; we cannot serve God and ourselves. We must choose a side. Generously suffer for the Gospel’s sake or concern ourselves only about how we might overcome this new giant. To see what I am saying, simply review our sermon series through the David and Goliath discourse.

I love you and am praying for you daily. May we come out on the other side of this having put our idols (whether money, preference, comfort, acquaintance, familiarity, power, intelligence, or numbers) to rest and having truly confessed Christ as our providential king. May we do so by God’s grace alone as He sanctifies us. May we seek to win others to Christ through caring for them generously and sacrificially. May those in our community who are not in Christ or participate with His church become true members of Christ’s body. May those in unhealthy or false churches be led in the way God desires them go.
